Arrival day in South Africa - JohannesburgFlights to South Africa

On your arrival (Johannesburg) you will be met by a Kaia Safaris representative and transferred to your pre tour accommodation.

After an early departure from Johannesburg we will make our way to Mpumalanga (place of the rising sun), where we will check into our hotel in the late afternoon. This will be our base for the next few days while exploring the area..

Get the cameras ready as we head to Kruger National Park in search for the Big Five (Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo). After a long day in the park we will return to our accommodation.

Enjoy another full days game drive in Kruger National Park, with approximately 2,000 plant, 53 fish, 34 amphibian, 118 reptile, 517 bird and 147 mammal species ready for you to discover. You will experience first-hand why Kruger National Park is known as the flagship of South African national parks. In the evening, back at camp you can sit around a campfire with your sundowner and enjoy the African night sounds drifting into the camp area.

Leaving Mpumalanga behind we head back to Pretoria where we will visit the Voortrekker Monument, Union Buildings (Parliament) and city tour. Tonight, our home will be the Lesedi Cultural village, where you will experience Ethnic hospitality. Guided tour through the cultural village, a typical dinner and then cultural dancing.

An early departure from the village and on to Johannesburg for our domestic flight to Port Elizabeth – known as the friendliest city in South Africa. We will arrive in the afternoon and you will have time to explore the city before we check into our accommodation.

Today we will leave for the Garden Route, all the way down the east coast of South Africa to Cape Town.

  • Stormsriver Bridge will be our first stop. (Garden Route is known for it`s bridges).
  • Tsitsikama National Park will be our next stop. A coastal park with absolute beautiful scenery – take a walk on the hangbridge over the Stormsriver or just relax on the rocks.
On our way to Knysna we will also visit the following:
  • Big tree. – An 800 year old oak tree.
  • Bloukrans Bridge.
  • Bloukrans and Stormsriver passes.

Knysna is a small town on the Garden Route … small but very interesting. Artist flog to here for the natural beauty. You will have the day free to explore and relax. There is the optional excursion to the Featherbed reserve – board the boat “old three legs” for a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon into the Knysna Heads, then dock at the Featherbed Nature reserve for lunch. After lunch you will go for a tractor trailer ride to the top of the Knysna Heads and have a stroll back to the boat.

After a good nights rest we leave the coastal area for our inland journey over the Outeniqua Mountains into the semi dessert area of The Klein Karoo, also known as the home of the ostrich. Karoo is a Koisan word meaning thirsty land.
We will visit the world famous:

  • Crocodiles and Cheeta breeding centre.
  • A working ostrich farm and an ostrich barbeque for lunch.

A long day as we travel to our last destination through spectacular mountain passes and deep valleys
