Why this Trip?

South Africa is not just a place where we can say, “WELCOME” in 11 official languages, but more a place where the welcome is as warm as the sun that melts into the sea. South Africa is a place of endless exploration, where landscapes drift into distant colorful horizons. *It is vibrant, it is alive, and it is filled with culture and zest. *It is where you will find star studded nights and bright city lights.

On your arrival (Johannesburg) you will be met by a Kaia Safaris representative and transferred to your pre tour accommodation

After an early departure from Johannesburg we will make our way to Mpumalanga (place of the rising sun), where we will check into our hotel in the late afternoon. This will be our base for the next few days while exploring the area

Get the cameras ready as we head to Kruger National Park in search for the Big Five (Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo). After a long day in the park we will return to our accommodation.

Today we will explore the area around Hazyview. Strolling around Pelgrimsrest – a small town from years gone by – the first alluvial gold was panned here and you can have a try to see if you have any luck. The rest of afternoon is spend exploring the crystal clear pools of the Bourkes Luck Potholes, the majestic Tree Rondavels and a look through Gods Window over the Lowveld escarpment. We will return to our accommodation to get ready and set of for our night game drive in Kruger Park on open vehicles.

An early morning start for an exiting drive to Swaziland crossing the border at Jeppes Reef enroute to Manzini. On the way you will have the chance to visit the Swazi Candles factory and to purchase these beautiful hand made candles – to lovely to burn.

Leaving Manzini we make our way back to South Africa, crossing the border at Golela. Our destination is Hluhluwe, a nature reserve and home to hundreds of hippos and bird species. Well go on a boat ride on the lake for real close encounters with the hippos – have those cameras ready!

All set for golden beaches of Durban! Arriving early afternoon you will have the change to explore this vibrant city with a huge Indian influence. Try some of the best curries South Africa has to offer – do not miss out on the local “bunny chow” – half a loaf of bread with the inside taken out and then filled with your favourite curry dish.

After breakfast we will be transferred to Durban Airport for our short flight to Port Elizabeth. On arrival we will board the couch again for a city tour and some free time before checking in at out hotel.

Today we will leave for the Garden Route, all the way down the east coast of South Africa to Cape Town.

  • Stormsriver Bridge will be our first stop. (Garden Route is known for it`s bridges).
  • Tsitsikama National Park will be our next stop. A coastal park with absolute beautiful scenery – take a walk on the hangbridge over the Stormsriver or just relax on the rocks.

On our way to Knysna we will also visit the following:

  • Big tree. – An 800 year old oak tree.
  • Bloukrans Bridge.
  • Bloukrans and Stormsriver passes.

Knysna is a small town on the Garden Route … small but very interesting. Artist flog to here for the natural beauty. You will have the day free to explore and relax. There is the optional excursion to the Featherbed reserve – board the boat “old three legs” for a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon into the Knysna Heads, then dock at the Featherbed Nature reserve for lunch. After lunch you will go for a tractor trailer ride to the top of the Knysna Heads and have a stroll back to the boat.

After a good nights rest we leave the coastal area for our inland journey over the Outeniqua Mountains into the semi dessert area of The Klein Karoo, also known as the home of the ostrich.
We will visit the world famous:

  • Cango Caves.
  • Crocodiles and Cheeta breeding centre.
  • A working ostrich farm and an ostrich barbeque for lunch.
